Richard “Dick” James Habel, Sr. succumbed to cancer, Wednesday July 11, 2018 at the age of 81 years at his home in Niles, IL . Dick was born September 4, 1936, the only child of Ernest and Mary nee Krasensky in Chicago, IL.
Dick met his wife of 61 years, Joy Arlene Wagner, in high school and they were married on May 4, 1957. Dick served in the U.S. Army as a mechanic, after his discharge he had a lifelong career in the automotive industry.
Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joy; daughter Susan (Lucio) Pentimalli; sons Robert (Marcia) Habel and Ronald (Julie Otto) Habel; grandchildren Melissa (Michael) Izydorski, Kate (Ryan) Schumacher, Rebecca Habel, Stephanie (Jason) Bailey, Alyssa Habel,; great grandchildren Paige, Gavin, Brandon, Michaela, Matthew; son-in-law Stephen Dauksch and daughter-in-law Avey Bernstein Habel. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a son Richard James Habel, Jr.
Visitation Monday July 16, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL 60056.
Funeral Service Tuesday July 17 11:00 a.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home.
Interment private Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
